Libyan Paralympic Committee

The general Libyan federation for the people with special needs’ sports (Libyan Paralympic Committee) was founded in 1981. It is one of the sport unions that worked with its limited sources and continued with the efforts of the people who work and rotated in it during a different period. From the start, this union is doing its duty with loyalty and perfectness to make the people with different disabilities play sport and merging them in the sport activities that suit their disabilities.
There are several sport sub-unions for the disabled sports and a club. They all carry out the general federation’s programs during the year in emphasizing the importance of the sport and its advantage for these people.

The sport teams are made through the social institutions and the disabled centers and clubs in many different sport fields. These social institutions and disabled centers and clubs brought out many excellent athletes and had presented Libya in many international sport events and gained the medals and advanced places. By the cooperation between the social insurance foundation and the peoples Committee of the general authority for the social insurance foundation and the Libyan Olympics Committee, it is possible to support this sport which needs the cooperation of these parts, so the general federation can carry out its sport programs for the people with different disabilities and the sports that suite them, as well as the specialty of these sports and its needs from the sport equipments, materials, else. The general federation organizes competitions and tournament according the international federations sports for each disability by itself.
